Larks' Tongues In Aspic, King Crimson's fifth studio album was released 50 years ago in March 1973 marking a radical departure from everything they’d previously done. With guitarist Robert Fripp as the only survivor from the original line-up, the new line-up featured violinist David Cross, ex-Yes drummer Bill Bruford, ex-Family bassist John Wetton with percussionist, Jamie Muir completing the tour de force.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic at 50

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the release of "Larks' Tongues in Aspic", the fifth studio album by the English progressive rock group King Crimson. This album marked the debut of King Crimson's third incarnation, featuring co-founder and guitarist Robert Fripp along with four new members: bass guitarist and vocalist John Wetton, violinist and keyboardist David Cross, percussionist Jamie Muir, and drummer Bill Bruford. It became a key album in the band's evolution, drawing on Eastern European classical music and European free improvisation as central influences.
